Disciplines: Performing Arts: “rigorous and wide-ranging artistic investigations that are movement-based, but that may incorporate other disciplines and collaborations”.   Eligibility: NYC-based artists. Session: 2 Years   Description: Movement Research’s Artist-in-Residence program (AIR) providing commissions, rehearsal space, performances, and related opportunities designed to support the individualized creative process of selected artists. AIR artists are chosen by a rotating artist panel.

Disciplines: Playwriting, Directing, Choreography, Singing, Dance, Acrobatics, Drama, Music Composers, Film & Video   Eligibility: Open to emerging small companies and individual artists, anyone with compelling performance ideas in need of investigation. The program is closed to registered students.   Session: 6 months; applications are accepted every other year.   Description: Mabou Mines/Suite, established in 1991, is the company’s resident artist program, a laboratory for experiments with performance ideas developed with the particular needs of emerging artists in mind. • Provided: Resident artists receive mentoring, 24/7 access to rehearsal space at the ToRoNaDa Studio, and a modest stipend. A public showing of the work is presented at the conclusion of the residency.

Disciplines: Dance, Health/Wellbeing, Music, Social Practice, Theatre, Visual Arts, Performance Art, Writing.   Eligibility: Only NYC residents who are 18 years of age or older and who are not currently enrolled full-time in a degree-granting institution. Session: 6 months, January – June   Description: Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide (SPARC) is a community arts engagement program that places artists-in-residence at senior centers across the five boroughs of New York City. The program provides selected artists with a stipend in exchange for the creation and delivery of arts programming for seniors. Disciplines: Visual Arts, Performance Art, Writing   Eligibility: Emerging, domestic or international, visual artists, performing artists, and writers working in all media and genres. • Session: 9 months   Description: A nine-month studio residency program that focuses on creative practice development for emerging artists working across all disciplines, LMCC’s Workspace program offers space for experimentation and dialogue with peers and arts professionals, as well as career advancement opportunities. Workspace encourages creative risk-taking, collaboration, learning, and skill-sharing at a critical early stage of an artist’s career and serves between 25 and 30 individuals or collaborative groups annually.

Discipline: visual arts, film, literature, and genre-defying new art forms embodies the highest spirit of artistic integrity and exploration   Residencies: 4   Session: 3 months   Description: Residency including rehearsal space, production, curatorial, and pr/marketing support to create new works, reach the next stage in their artistic development, and gain exposure to a broad public audience.

Disciplines: Performing arts   Eligibility: Emerging to mid-career   Session: November – March, 5-week sessions   Description: Chashama works with performing artists to support the development and presentation of a wide range of original works. Whether the work appears in a black box or is a one-time rock band performance in a public site; we support and facilitate innovative visions. Artists who are residents of New York City or international artists who have temporarily relocated are welcome to apply for free or low-cost space to rehearse and perform.

Program: Artist in Residence (AIR); Space Grant Program   Disciplines: Theater, Dance and Performance; Choreographers, Playwrights and Multi-disciplinary   Eligibility: Applications are available to New York City residents only and are generally available in mid-late March; Artists who have received previous space grants must wait three years before reapplying.   Session: AIR program is 1-2 years; Space Grants are offered for 40, 50, or 85-hour work periods followed by performances. See website for specific details.   Description: For the AIR program seven resident artists have the use of four spaces suitable for theater, dance and performance work and are offered up to 200 hours of free rehearsal space, a stipend, formal presentations of new works and works in progress and administrative and technical support.
