Discipline(s): Performing Arts, including choreography, dance, music composition, directing (film & theatre), and storytelling; Visual Arts; Media Arts; Writing, including screenwriting and playwriting; and Scholarship (art conversation, art education, art history, criticism, environmentalism/conversation)   Eligibility: Artists of all levels are encouraged to apply; however, artists pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees may not apply while enrolled in degree-granting programs. Students are not eligible for residencies.   Session: Mid-March – mid-November; 4-5 week sessions   Description: The Artists’ Barn contains three visual art studios, a large dance studio, a darkroom, and a music composition studio with a baby grand and electric piano. The studios are rustic with wood burning stoves and modest sleeping lofts. There is also a kitchen, a large common area, shared bathrooms, and laundry facilities in the Barn. RAPID RESPONSE FUND FOR MOVEMENT BUILDING The Bay Area and the nation are at a crossroads. Despite historic levels of prosperity, there is rising income and wealth inequality, and increasing poverty. In order to advance racial and economic equity, The San Francisco Foundation believes that those who are most impacted should be at the forefront of efforts to change these disparities. They should have the resources they need to lead campaigns and to take action to improve conditions in their communities.
