Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild

The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild provides a vibrant center for excellence in the arts and crafts in the beautiful and unique rural community of Woodstock, New York, while preserving the historic and natural environment of one of the earliest utopian art colonies in America. It offers an inspiring combination of residency, educational, exhibition, and performance programs that encourage creative collaboration among artists, students, arts professionals, and the public. Disciplines: Visual artists, ceramics artists, music composition, playwriting/screenwriting, prose, poetry.

The Blue Mountain Center

Disciplines: Established creative and non-fiction writers, and artists not requiring exceptional facilities are eligible applicants. Session: 1 month; mid-June through October 1. Description: The admissions committee is particularly interested in a fine work that evinces social and ecological concern and is aimed at a general audience. The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity

Description: Most programs are designed and implemented as discrete short-term projects that focus on the particular needs of writers or publishing professionals. Through its own publications produced throughout the year, The Banff Centre supports contemporary art, literature, and criticism and explores the development of electronic platforms and new technologies in writing and publishing. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Grand Arts

Discipline: All Eligibility: Emerging and mid-career artists Session: Varies Deadlines: Unsolicited proposals are accepted at any time and reviewed twice yearly. Description: Support includes transportation, housing, materials and equipment, skilled assistance, marketing and publicity, documentation and opening reception to bring the project to the public.

The Arctic Circle Residency Program

Discipline: Artists of all disciplines, architects, innovators, scientists, and educators. Eligibility: Applications accepted from “international working contemporary artists.” Session: Several weeks (expedition on sailing ship in the Arctic) Description: Artist and scientist-led, The Arctic Circle is an annual expeditionary residency program. The Arctic Circle provides a shared experience for its participants to engage in myriad issues relevant to our time and to develop professionally through interdisciplinary collaborations, exhibit opportunities, and public and classroom engagement.

Yaddo

Discipline(s): Film/Video (including narrative, documentary and experimental films, animation, and screenplays); Music Composition; Performance & Media (including choreography, performance art, sound art, and multi-media productions); Visual Art; and Writing (including playwriting and screenwriting). Eligibility: Mid-career, professional level. International artists and small collaborations of 2-3 individuals. Session: Mid-May – February, 2 weeks – 2-month sessions Description: Room, board and workspace.

The Watermill Center

Discipline(s): Music, Theater, Dance, Performance and Visual Arts Eligibility: Watermill invites emerging artists to submit ambitious proposals for the creation of collaborative works that critically investigate, challenge, and extend the existing norms of performance practice. Watermill also welcomes research proposals from established scholars. Session: Fall (Sept-Dec) and Spring (Mar – June); 1-4 week sessions Description: Living space (dormitory), workspace and use of one large passenger van for local use.
