The Art of the Score

The Art of The Score is a one-day event that includes a live scoring contest where participants will score a movie scene LIVE using only turntables, production equipment, and a mic (or two). Celebrity DJ's and the audience will vote for the winner.  The scoring contest is followed by a screening of the Hip Hop Film Festival’s 2017 "BEST OF THE FESTIVAL" winner “See You Yesterday”, written & directed by Stefon Bristol, produced by Spike Lee.

What

The Art Of The Score is a Free to the public event at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn, NY  on June 22nd, 2018.   This exclusive event is brought to you by MusicMakers.io, Hip-Hop Film Festival, New York City Parks, Hot 97, ReverbNation, and Revive Kombucha.  Prizes are Sponsored by Independent Ear.

Purpose

The Art of the Score is a live music & film event that will allow musicians an opportunity to score a movie in front of a live audience in a competitive setting. The event will highlight the convergence between music and the moving image. The winner of the scoring competition will be offered the opportunity to open one of the NYC Parks summer outdoor movie events along with other prizes (partner supported).

 

Audience

The event is open free of charge to the entire NY tri-state area. Our attendees are film and music enthusiasts hailing from the NY tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT). Expected attendance is 1500+. The event will also be live-streamed to the Hip Hop Film Festival’s worldwide audience and influencer network (combined reach 11 million).
