This was quite a surprise since it hails from the more southern provinces of Chiapas and Oaxaca where it can be found on steep sandstone cliffs near waterways in pine-oak forests

I would recommend against using it anywhere south of Zone 8

This widespread aroid is found from India to South China, and south to Malaysia. The trifoliate leaves emerge in spring and form a 18" tall x 2' wide mound of foliage. Starting in summer, the cupped, liver red flowers start appearing from the base of the foliage.
