StoryRevenue, and Balance:  The late Stewart Lupton serves as a role model of artistic evolution and musical influence. Then, learn how you can win through your music with Unsigned Only. Lastly, find out about digital distribution with AWAL - Artists Without a Label.

Stewart Lupton, the lead frontman of Jonathan Fire*Eater, passed away on Monday, May 28th at 43 years of age. Jonathan Fire*Eater is a band known for their influence; while they had a short run, bands like The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Interpol all say they had an impact on their own music. They laid the groundwork for New York City’s early 2000s indie-rock Renaissance, forever creating their mark on the music industry.

Though they started early as a high school band with impressive success, it took them years before they discovered their ultimate sound. In Lizzy Goodman’s book Meet Me in the Bathroom, Lupton described finally coming into their own: "It was a really wonderful feeling," Lupton said. "We had gone from an amalgam of inspirations to an original vibe over a couple of months. We did three-chord punk rock, but we did it in our own way. It was golden."

How did you discover your sound? How do you think it will evolve? What mark do you want to leave on the music industry? How will you be remembered?
